Solo/Duo/Guest Hikes
Sometimes dogs have special needs.
Maybe they’re super seniors who need a slower pace, or they’re not off-leash trained. Maybe they have little legs and can’t keep up with the bigger dogs on our pack hikes or they just don’t get along with other dogs.
Sometimes people have traveling vacation or work guest dogs in town and want them to experience adventures while they are here.
That’s why we created our Solo/Duo Hike program.
Each hike takes dog behavior into account. It’s their hike so we cater to their needs.. because we absolutely adore our Solo Hike dogs!
Because we walk one on one, we have the ability to tailor the hike to their individual needs and to work on behaviors that might need a “tune up”. Sometimes it’s working on recall, or learning how to greet other dogs politely, or learning not to pull so much…though there are sometimes squirrels, we understand. We emphasize sniffing as much as they want, utilizing 30 foot long lines that allow them to get deep into the ferns or bushes…or puddle to get that one special stick. We’ve even been known to swing by a restaurant on the way back for a special Bark-Cute’rie plate…because every hike is better with bacon!
In our Duo Hike program we take siblings, or we try to match dogs with similar energies who can do well one-on-one with another well balanced dog but don’t do well in larger groups.
And when your dog gets beyond the point they are comfortable in the Frosted Faces Senior hike, our clients often transition them into the solo program where we have the flexibility to cater to their physical limitations up to, and including offering stroller hikes.
If your dog could benefit from some special attention, or you’ll be in Bellingham for a vacation or work, check our Prices and Process page, then contact us to get on the schedule.
